What do the items in the Editors Only menu do?

EO-stories:

The Stories list is a chronological listing of all the pages in your website. Newest pages will appear at the top of the list.

This menu allows you to:
  • Create new pages
  • View a list of page you have already created.

EO-pictures:

Much like the Stories list this menu will display a chronological listing of all the pictures you have already uploaded to your website. Newest images will appear at the top of the list.

This menu allows you to:
  • Upload new pictures
  • View a list of pictures you have already uploaded.

EO-gems:

This menu will display a list of all the raw documents that you have uploaded your website. In this area you are invited to upload any type of computer file you would like your reader to download. For example, you can use Gems to upload; PDFs, Quicktime Movies, Audio Files, or Excel Spreadsheets.

This menu allows you to:
  • Upload any type of digital document to you website.
  • View a list of "gems" you have already uploaded.

EO-shortcuts:

Whenever you create a page, upload a picture, or upload a gem, you website keeps track of those items by creating a shortcut. Here you will find an alphabetical list of nearly everything associated with you website

This menu allows you to:
  • View, Delete and Modify existing shortcuts.
  • Create new shortcuts to, pages within your own site, and page outside of your website.

EO-discuss:

Discuss is a complete "Nested Discussion Group". You can choose you utilize this feature for a public or private bulletin board system. discussion threads can be viewed in to modes, chronologically, or listed by topic.

This menu allows you to:
  • View, items in the discussion group.
  • Comment on items in your discussion group.

EO-prefs:

Prefs will take you to a sub menu, which includes all the froms that allow you to control how a site looks and operates.

The Prefs Sub-Menus include:

  • Appearance - These preferences control the appearance of pages on your Manila site.

  • Editorial - You can specify who your contributing editors are and who gets notified when new or changed stories and pictures are posted.

  • Legal Tags - You can specify which HTML tags are legal in messages and stories on your site.

  • Searching - You can turn indexing on and off, set the name and URL of your site, and set preferences regarding the search engine server.

  • Syndication - You can syndicate your home page so that automated news readers can publish your headlines. If your home page is a news page, this is a good idea.

  • Membership - You can turn membership on and off and configure membership features, including the discussion group and email bulletins.

  • Confirmation - When people become a member of your site, they get email confirmation and a welcome page. You can edit both here.

  • Outlines - You can allow the use of Radio on your site and configure the appearance and rendering of outlines.

  • New Items - You can enable and disable the news item feature, and add departments and edit the news item template.

  • Plug-ins - You can specify which plug-ins are enabled for your site.

  • Themes - This page allows you to change your website's appearance by applying a theme. Note: applying a theme will over-write your current templates, colors, and other appearance preferences.

  • Discussion Group - These preferences control the format of the Discussion Group on your Manila site.

  • Discussion Group Themes - This page allows you to change your discussion group's appearance by applying a theme.

  • Advanced - This page contains Manila's advanced configuration features.
    • Navigation - allows you to change your navigation links

    • Template - If you're comfortable with editing HTML you can change the look of the whole site.

    • Home Page Template - You can create and edit a template that's used only for the home page, so your home page can look different from the rest of the pages in your site.

    • Print-Friendly Template - You can edit the template that's used for the print-friendly version of your site. This template should remain simple so that it looks good when printed.

    • Cascading Style Sheet - You can add a cascading style sheet that will be added to every page in your site.

    • JavaScript - You can add JavaScript scripts that will be added to every page in your site.

    • Site Structure - You can edit the structure of your site, associate stories with paths, to get URLs like mymanilasite.com/a/b/c

    • Custom Prefs - You can edit the questions asked of your members and specify which get displayed on the profiles pages.

    • News Day Template - If you've chosen to include two or more news days on the home page of your site, you can edit the mini-template for each news day.

    • Navigation Appearance - You can define the appearance of your navigation bar.

    • Calendar Appearance - You can define the appearance of your calendars.

    • Join Now Members Box - You can edit the appearance of the Join Now Members Box, which is displayed to people who aren't members or who aren't logged in.

    • Sign Out Members Box - You can edit the appearance of the Sign Out Members Box, which is displayed to members who are currently logged in.

    • Theme - You can choose to make your site cloneable as a theme, so other people can use your site's templates and appearance preferences in their site.

EO-Admin:

You can delete stories from the stories list, delete pictures from the pictures list, delete discussion group messages, add and block members, force check-ins, and render your entire site if static rendering is available.

EO-bulletins:

Use this form to send a bulletin to your members who have bulletins enabled. Enter plain text with very simple HTML markup. Some people will be reading this with non-HTML-enabled mail clients.
