News Items

News Items are a special type of Message ideally suited to the brief posts found on a weblog. When enabled (a Managing Editor must enable them), a “News” link appears in the Editor’s Only navigation.

News Items have a Title, URL, Description and Department. Departments allows you to file news by subject matter. Like all Messages, News Items have added information about the author, the post time, etc. All newsitems are automatically archived by date and department.

In addition to providing an easy way to manage your home page, newsitems give you the ability to solicit information from other members of the site or the general public (the newsitems submission form can be made public). News collected from other members or the public is stored in “Pending News Items” until it is approved by a managing editor.
