Culminating Activity - Map of Kern County
Edward Beale was a surveyor. A surveyor is someone who measures distances and draws maps.
You are going to use your ruler to measure and paper to draw a map of Kern County.
Take a piece of paper in the size of 8 1/2" x 11. Lay it on your desk.
Draw a 10 inch line close to the top of your paper. This is the northern border of Kern County.
Draw the eastern border 5 inches down from the top line. This will be on the right side of your paper.
Starting at the bottom of the 5 inch line, draw a line 7 inches long parallel to the bottom of the paper. This is the southern border of Kern County.
For the western border, draw stair steps down from the northern border to the southern border.
Draw a compass rose on your map. Write the title Kern County on your map.
