Culminating Activity - Hall of History

Objectives

1. Recognize the contributions of people in history
2. Synthesize information

Organize students into pairs or small groups to study a famous person in Kern County. After completing sufficient research, students create a life-size figure. Supply each group with a large piece of butcher paper. Students then trace one member of the group to create a life size image.

Students should create characteristics and clothing to portray the person accurately. Have students synthesize information about the person and write five facts they consider the most important about this individual and his or her accomplishments. Students should write these facts around the body they've created, then present their person to the class. Display the finished figures in the classroom. Add other figures to the "gallery".
