Tejon Key Vocabulary
1. apprentice - a person who serves another, for a period of time- to learn an art or trade
2. foreman - the person in charge of a group of workers,
3. adobe - a brick made of sun-dried clay and straw
4. buckboard - a small flat-bottomed, horse-drawn wagon
5. homestead - land given by the U.S. government that is lived on and developed
Vocabulary Activity
Show some samples of comic strips to your students. Discuss the story line in each comic strip. Have the students create their own comic strips using the vocabulary words within the characters' dialogue, and in the setting.
