GroupWise Archiving - Maintenance

Step-by-Step instructions for properly setting up archiving within GroupWise.

Open GroupWise

Go to Tools / Options

Double click on “Environment”

Click on the “File Location” tab

For users connecting directly to the KCSOS Network, the Archive Directory should be set to F:\
User's who do not connect to the KCSOS Network should create a folder on a local drive (like C:\Archive) to place the archive files. This can be done by simply typing c:\Archive in the Archive Directory field.
Once this is done, click on the “Cleanup” tab

The defaults should be set as shown. Click “OK” and then “Close”. The next time you shutdown and reopen your mailbox will start to archive and cleanup your files. This may take a while if you have lots of mail. Try to maintain your account and delete messages that you do not need.

Please also understand that moving files to a different “mail folder” does not alleviate the problem. These messages absolutely must be archived. Lastly, the “Trash Bin” is for trash. Using the “Trash Bin” is an extremely dangerous method for filing messages that you may wish to retrieve at a later date.
