			<description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;EM&gt;The objectives of this organization are to: &lt;/EM&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Provide its members with duly authorized representation for the purpose of protecting and improving their rights under the Merit System. 
&lt;LI&gt;To settle disputes between employee and employer arising from grievances as they apply to the Merit System, and 
&lt;LI&gt;To provide the communication vehicle between employee and employer. &lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;B&gt;Membership &lt;/B&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;P align=left&gt;Our Membership continues to grow. As of February 2010, we have &lt;STRONG&gt;828 Members&lt;/STRONG&gt;!&lt;BR&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P align=left&gt;Remember there are benefits to being a member of SOSCA. Only SOSCA members can apply for the book scholarship. SOSCA does the negotiations each year for the classified staff. With a membership this size we can accomplish many things, but we need to have participation from you, the membership! You might ask yourself, &quot;how could &lt;B&gt;I&lt;/B&gt; make a difference?&quot; You can come to the general meetings. You could become a representative. Representatives attend the board meetings every other month. Send in requests for the nomination committee. Every item that goes to negotiations comes from the membership (if you don&#146;t let us know what you want, we can&#146;t negotiate for it!) Send items for the Newsletter. This is your newsletter and if we don&#146;t hear from you, we don&#146;t know what you would like to see printed. &lt;STRONG&gt;Membership is only $1.00 &lt;/STRONG&gt;per month for ten months and is payroll deductible.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;</description>
