CALL TO ORDER
Pete Cook, SOSCA President, called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m.

MINUTES OF LAST GENERAL MEETING

LeMay moved that the minutes of the January 17, 2007 board meeting be
approved as presented; the motion was seconded by Dawn Johnson; motion
passed.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Employee ID Numbers
Patty reported that the use of employee ID numbers instead of Social Security numbers has been implemented. All employees, permanent and substitute, have been notified of their personal number to use on all HR forms. In addition, all departments have received a listing of employee ID numbers. It was noted that forms used by SISC must have the Social Security number, but you can use the last four digits.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Long-Term and Short-Term Disability Insurance – Open Discussion
Cheryl
O’Brien, AFLAC Representative, explained the benefits of short-term
disability coverage offered through AFLAC and distributed rate sheet. She also stated there are other programs offered through AFLAC and packets were available for review.
Linda
______________________ with the Lynn Company, reviewed voluntary
long-term disability insurance benefits offered through Mutual of Omaha
Insurance Company. Mutual is the new long-term disability insurance carrier for the office, replacing Hartford. All
employees who were covered by place Hartford were automatically rolled
over to the new plan; anyone wanting to join the plan must wait until
open enrollment in August. The coverage of pre-existing conditions was covered at length. Current participants will not be affected by the pre-existing conditions requirements. Linda stated that Lynn Company and AFLAC will work hand-in-hand to give KCSOS classified employees excellent service<o:p> </o:p>
DIRECTORS’ REPORTS

The SOSCA/KCEA dinner is scheduled for May 24, 2007, 6:00 p.m. at Coconut Joe’s. There are 97 people signed up to attend. Friday was the cut-off for reservations.

Laurie Swan, Director of Public Relations
Laurie is having some problems with the web site. She has asked for help from the office web team. The web site can be found at www.kern.org/sosca.

Cindy Agundez, Director of NegotiationsIn Cindy’s absence, Patty reported that the first meeting for 07-08 negotiations will be May 29. Any items for negotiations should be submitted to Cindy soon.
NEXT MEETINGThe next regular meeting of the SOSCA Board is scheduled for June 14, 2007, 11:30 a.m. in conference room 326. One of the items for discussion will be scholarships. The next SOSCA Board meeting with Site Reps is September 13, 2007. SOSCA will host a General Meeting for all classified staff on October 11, 2007 where scholarships will be presented
