Tobacco Education Group (TEG) and Tobacco Awareness Program (TAP)

Who Should Attend?

Site administrators, teachers for grades 6-12, counselors/at-risk specialists and substance abuse service providers. Schools are encouraged to send a team of two participants.

About the training:

Tobacco Education Group (TEG) is a readiness for tobacco cessation program specifically designed for school staff who work with students in grades 6-12. TEG is highly interactive and effective and it can be implemented by teachers, counselors substance abuse service providers and peer facilitators in a support group setting during school hours, as a voluntary or mandatory after-school program, or as a Saturday alternative to suspension for tobacco possession.

Tobacco Awareness Program (TAP) is a tobacco cessation support group program for smokers and chewers that has proven effective at reducing the rate of teenage tobacco users in a schol setting. It was designed by a classroom teacher and can be easily implemented as a voluntary follow-up for students who have completed the readiness for tobacco cessation (TEG) group.

Registration Fees:

Free. All participants must be pre-registered to attend. Registration fees are covered by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office - Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) administrative funding.
