Project ALERT Training (6-8)
Who Should Attend?
Grades 6-8 administrators, school counselors, classroom teachers, substance abuse service providers.
About the training:
Project ALERT is a highly effective, research based program designed to help middle grade students build resistance skills through a variety of activities, such as classroom videos, role-playing and group activities, parent-involved homework assignments and interactive games.
The Project ALERT curriculum features eleven sessions during the core year (6th or 7th grade) and three booster lessons the following year. Counselors and teachers from all discipline areas can deliver it effectively. Participants will receive the following comprehensive curriculum package upon registration at the required one-day workshop:
- Teacher’s manual with 11 lessons for year one; 3 booster lessons for year two
- Overview video for colleagues and community members
- 8 interactive student videos
- Optional teen leader manual
- Free video and print curriculum updates
- Free subscription to the ALERT Educator, a teacher support newsletter
- Toll-free phone support and technical assistance

Registration Fees:
There are no fees for staff from schools that are members of the Kern County Substance Abuse Prevention Education (KCSAPE) Partnership. The fee for nonmembers is $180/person. This fee includes all workshop materials, a continental breakfast and lunch
