Families for Prevention

Who Should Attend?

Administrators and staff from elementary schools serving grades K-2 for the Conflict Resolution Video Series, and Grades 3-5 for the Substance Abuse Prevention Video Series.

About the training:

Families for Prevention is a video parenting principles program made available to the families of children in grades K, 1, 2 and 3, 4, and 5. In this training, administrators and staff learn the components of the two programs, how to set up a checkout system through the classroom, and how to market the programs to parents. Families for Prevention has enjoyed unprecedented success in school districts that have adopted it, primarily because it allows parents to obtain important information and skills without having to deal with issues of time conflicts, child care, and transportation. Parents consistently give strong, positive evaluations of this important prevention program. Materials are available in both Spanish and English. An audiotape version is also available in English and Spanish.

Registration fees:

There are no fees to attend this workshop. Materials are provided to schools that are members of the Kern County Substance Abuse Prevention Education (KCSAPE) Partnership. Information on how to obtain materials will be made available to districts and schools outside the Partnership.

Training location and dates:

Training will be held at those districts/schools which make individual arrangements.
