Developing Capable Young People-Leadership Training
Who Should Attend?
Administrators, classroom teachers, classified staff, agency personnel, parent/community volunteers.
About the training:
Designed specifically for Staff Development and Parent Education Facilitators and community/agency staff who work as trainers or family advocates. This workshop will provide participants with effective strategies and techniques to help others: (1) reduce interpersonal conflicts; (2) assist students/adults in taking greater responsibility for their actions; (3) develop stronger perceptions of personal capability, significance and influence; (4) communicate more effectively; and (5) improve classroom management, discipline, comprehension, motivation, achievement, and morale.
Upon successful completion of the three-day training, participants will be certified by Dr. H. Stephen Glenn to conduct the ten-week "Developing Capable Young People" (DCYP) course with small groups of staff members, parents and agency clients. Special emphasis in the Developing Capable Young People-Leadership training will be focused on training for new teachers (first/second year) and on helping districts meet requirements for training teachers involved in the class size reduction program.
