Request for Good Neighbor Service Learning Funds

The Good Neighbor Service Learning Program provides mini-grants to teachers throughout Kern County to support high quality service learning activities for students in grades K-12. The funding for this program comes from a State Farm, Good Neighbor Citizenship Program. State Farm Insurance Companies support efforts to assure all children have an education that allows them to achieve their potential and prepares them to participate fully in our society. Through the Good Neighbor Citizenship program, State Farm Insurance Company and its Foundation are committed to provide funds to raise the levels of student achievement and to build strong communities.

The Good Neighbor Service Leaning mini-grants are awarded to teachers for the purpose of integrating a service component into the academic learning activities of the students in their classrooms. Individual teachers may apply for $100- $1,000.

Application Formatting

All applications must be printed on standard 8 ½" by 11" white paper. Responses must be typewritten, using a 12 point Arial font, line spacing of 1 ½, and margins of ¾ inch on right, left, top, and bottom. Do not use compressed type.

Sequence of Application

Assemble the application as follows:

• Cover Page

• Summary of Project

• List of community partners

• Budget with summary

• End of project summary (submitted 30 days after end of project)

Provide the original application (printed single-sided) and one copy. The original and copy must be stapled in the upper left-hand corner, not paper clipped or rubber banded. The application must not have decorative covers or bindings. All components of the application must be complete to be considered for funding. No faxed copies accept.

Deadline: open and on-going in 2006-07; applications will be accepted, reviewed and funded on an on-going basis until all funding is distributed during the 2006-07 school year.
