Facts about Safe Halloween

  1. Trick or treating is restricted to ages 3 – 12. No one over 12 can purchase a bag ticket. Adults 13 and older must purchase a ticket to be allowed on the grounds.
  2. Ages 2 and under are free if they are not trick or treating. If the parent wants the toddler to trick or treat they must buy a ticket and they are responsible for the safety of the treats.
  3. Trick or treaters must use our bag. Unauthorized bags will not be allowed or “treated”. Sponsors will not give candy to children without the official Safe Halloween bag.
  4. Tickets can be purchased at Kern Schools Federal Credit Union branches, Vallitix locations, at http://www.vallitix.com or at the Kern County Museum. Receiving tickets through the mail is a privilege of membership.
  5. No weapons of any kind, real or toy, are allowed. This includes light sabers, guns, swords, canes and fairy wands. This is promoted as a “safe” environment and unintentional injuries can occur due to the number of people on the grounds.
  6. Food is available at reasonable prices.
  7. There is also a school type carnival with games and prizes. Cost is .50 cents per coupon.

Costume Contest

To participate in the costume contest go to the designated area 15 minutes before your judging time and sign-in. The costume contest is held in the Standard School Building at the west end of the carnival. Costumes will be judged in the following categories:

  • CHILDREN 4 AND UNDER -- 6:30pm
  • CHILDREN 5-8 -- 7:00pm
  • CHILDREN 9-12 -- 7:30pm
  • ADULT -- 8:00pm

Judging will be based on originality, uniqueness, and style of costume. No commercially packaged costumes. Judging will be in Standard School and prizes will be awarded at the time of judging. Decision of judges is final.
