When you are the California Superintendent of Public Instruction and author of the California High School Exit Exam, not everywhere are you welcomed with songs. Not so the case for Superintendent Jack O'Connell who, because of a plane mix up, missed out on an opportunity to meet with students at Bakersfield's Downtown Elementary School two weeks ago. O'Connell, honoring a promise to make it up to them, came "downtown" on Oct. 6. and was entertained by the after school program choir. Their song?
