When people first see RICHARD SANTANA walk on stage, they see a tough talking Lantino gangster dressed in his "street clothes." Within seconds, the crowd has made assumptions that he is a dropout, flop, or just a thoughtless speaker. When Richard starts talking, the people find out that he was the third generation of his family to join one of the largest gangs in California.

After a life of hate, drugs, and violence, Richard experienced a transformation. The former "homeboy" goes to Harvard. In 1995, he graduated from Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
