Automotive Service
The Automotive Program is designed to provide pre-employment training to students with the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities for entry level employment in the automotive servcie industry. Graduates of this program have sufficient background to repair and make adjustments on the various systems of the modern automobile, using up-to-date equipment and tools. The course is an introduction to composites in which students will study the basic fundamentals of composite fabrication. Both classroom and lab classes will cover the characteristics between various composite materials used in the composite industry today, and the applicaiton of these materials in a hands-on environment. Blueprint reading and safety in composites are also covered. Computer Maintenance and Repair
The Computer Maintenance and Repair Program trains students in fundamental computer maintenance and repair and prepares students to take the A+ Certification Exams. Students will learn and develop entry level skills utilizing classroom small/large group interaction, lab training, and cooperative group learning activities. The students will learn the workings of disk drives, computers, monitors, and printers; the operation of test equipment; and the electronic fundamentals necessary to understand and service basic computer systems. Cosmetology
The Cosmetology Program is designed to train students in the basic fundamentals of beauty culture and introduce them to careers in the cosmetology field. The class includes theory and practical application. Course work will comprise personal development and charm, reception and desk work, chemical and thermal hair straightening, and application of more advanced hair coloring techniques, hair cutting and shaping,scalp and hair treatments. This course is designed to develop competencies in law enforcement occupations with emphasis placed on the development of attitudes and skills. The course introduces students to the study of crime and the administration of justice in the United States. The focus throughout the course will be on the realities of the criminal justice system including the police, prosecution, courts, corrections and the criminal justice process dealing with the disposition of people charged with the commission of crimes. Instruction includes press photography, darkroom techniques, photo journalism, and advertising photography. Welding
Students learn to bond and fuse metal parts together using gas and arc welding processes. Reading of blueprints and layout of parts for welding, plus flame cutting and grinding, are practiced. Wildlands Fire Science
The course is designed to introduce students to the United States Forestry Service, and prepare students with basic firefighting and conservation entry level skills. Classroom instruction, demonstration, and hands-on field application will be given in basic firefighting, standards for survival, engine and pump operations, backfiring methods and equipment use, chainsaw operations, map and compass use, air operations, basic hand tool sharpening and use, fireline construction and forest conservation. Wind Turbine Technician
The course will prepare trainees for an entry-level position working on/with Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and related equipment. The course is designed to prepare students to work with the following items: various mechanical hand tools and equipment, electrical testing equipment, hydraulic tools and equipment, electrical and electronics basics, and the fundamental logic of operating and maintaining WTGs. Also included is the strong emphasis on safety practices while working near or with WTGs. Working habits of cleanliness and tidiness in all phases of the program are mandatory.
