Business Careers Co-Op (For the Paid Student)
The Business Co-Op class takes students who are interested in the business trades by training them and placing them on a job within the community.  Students meet one day a week for classroom instruction, and work on the job for the remaining four days of the week.  Wages range from minimum wage to $6.00 per hour, depending upon the work station.  The student receives 10 units of credit toward high school graduation.  While in class, students perfect business skills such as telephone techniques, working with people, written communication, spoken communication, grooming for the business office, data entry and retrieval on the computer.  Students are encouraged to share experiences with classmates and to creatively solve "world of work" problems.  (360 hour program)

Business Graphics
Business Graphics is a pre-employment program consisting of vocational training which includes theory and shopwork as they relate to all phases of photolithography - layout, photo reproduction, bindery, and production.  The instructional program will emphasize desktop publishing, typesetting and layout on the MacIntosh computer using current graphics software.  In the application of theory, the student will create and publish fliers, advertisements, forms, programs, brochures, newsletters, manuals, invitations, announcements and posters.  Students will also learn to assume the responsibility of management and job costing for materials used in the duplication process.  (360 hour program)

Computer Applications (Beginning)
This course is designed for students who wish to receive training to develop skills in keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheet, Inernet, and presentation software.  This course provides a laboratory to involve the students in practical work experiences and related learning which will enable the student with vocational competence for an entry level job in any computerized office.  The student also participates in related learning activities necessary to develop vocational competence, good work habits and attitudes essential for success.

Computer Applications (Advanced)
Advanced Computer Office Applications is designed for students desiring intensive training and skill development in intermediate-advanced computer office software applications.  It is designed for students with a proven keyboarding speed of 25 w.p.m. and who have completed the Beginning Computer Applications class (or demonstrable competency).  Beginning functions will be supplemented by acquiusition of advanced proficiencies.  Learners will build on fundamental knowledge of computer basics: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, Internet basics, and necessary job skills.  An introduction to database and web page designing software will also be presented.

Students will prepare a variety of documents, master specialized software functions, and be able to design a professional web page.  Students will also be able to participate in Community Classroom program, obtaining valuable on-the-job experience.  Upon completion, graduates will be able to work effectively in any computerized office environment.  (252 hour program)

Computer Keyboarding (Occupational Typing)
This course is designed to develop or to improve competence in computer keyboarding.  The emphasis is placed on the development of vocational competence for job entry in operating a computer keyboard and attaining a minimum keyboarding speed of forty words per minute.  This course will fulfill the prerequisite requirements for adult students entering the following KCROP classes:  Word Processor and Medical Office/Hospital Procedures.  (180 hour program)

Visual Communications and Graphics
Students will learn general information about the graphic arts industry.  Emphasis in this course includes development of visual knowledge, creative expression and the ability to appraise and recognize good quality in graphic media.  They will learn methods and techniques of a variety of graphic arts stations, including photography, videography, graphic communication, desktop publishing, process camera, offset press, bindery process, silk screening, air brushing, and other related areas in the visual communications and graphics field.  (216 hour program)
