Child Development Teacher

SALARY:
$25,732 minimum; $47,407 maximum per year, based on 230 days/8 hours per day. Additional $1,000 stipend for master's degree. Prepaid medical with prepaid prescription card, vision, dental, and counseling plans provided for employee and family. A life insurance program is also prepaid for the employee.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands the philosophy of the program and can articulate its goals and objectives to others. Knows objectives of program, plans and provides age appropriate activities in component areas of educational development, cognitive, physical, social, creative, health and nutrition education as well as parent involvement. Becomes involved in the children's work and play throughout the day by talking, interacting, and working with the children. Conducts parent conferences concerning progress of children. Assists with parent education techniques to use for reinforcing school activities at home, and information regarding community resources for parents. Attends and participates in scheduled center, committee, inservice, and parent education meetings. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, and ensures that they are available and in good repair. Cooperates with community agencies in providing needed services for children and their families. Organizes tasks, meets deadlines, accurately prepares and submits required records and reports, manages time to effectively meet the goals of the program. Supervises aide assistants, associate; understands job descriptions of those positions and maintains confidential supervisory relationship with staff including evaluations. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid California Child Development Teacher Permit; 24 units in early childhood education (ECE) or child development completed at an accredited or approved college or university, including core courses and 16 general education (GE) units. Alternative Qualifications: AA or higher in ECE/CD or related field with 3 semester units, supervised field experience in ECE setting. Experience: 175 days of 3+ hours per day within the past four years. Five-year renewal requirement: 105 hours of professional growth.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver's license, and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
