Teacher - Special Education, Moderate/Severe
SALARY:
$41,766 - $76,194 per year. Maximum entry level is $57,223 per year, based on 25 steps and 185 service days; 7 hours per day. Additional $1,000 annual stipend will be paid for a masters degree and $1,300 annual stipend for doctorate. Prepaid medical with prepaid prescription card, vision, dental, and counseling plans provided for employee and family. A life insurance program is also prepaid for the employee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements the Individualized Education Program with appropriate lesson plans, materials, and classroom strategies. Observes and makes ongoing evaluation of pupils academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with parents on the individual pupils progress. Mainstreams children into integrated settings for maximum interaction with peers. Meets with parents, staff members and coordinator as to children's needs. Plans and coordinates the work of aides. Assist when necessary in toileting, feeding, dress, loading in and out of bus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree. Masters degree is preferred. California credential authorizing the teaching of severely disabled students. Successful teaching experience in implementing IEPs for children who may have some or all of the following conditions: severe to profound mental retardation, non-ambulatory, in need of feeding training, in need of toilet training, seizure disorders, severe deficits in fine and gross motor functioning, and autism.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must possess a private vehicle, valid California drivers license, and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.
