Coordinator II - Itinerant Services and Program Support

Special Education Services Division

SALARY:
$91,958 minimum; $99,025 maximum per year, based on 224 service days, 8 hours per day. Prepaid medical (with prepaid prescription card), vision, dental and counseling plans provided for employee and family. A life insurance program is provided for the employee.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and coordinate itinerant staff and services, to include adapted physical education, audiological, occupational therapy, speech and vision.  Manage, coordinate, provide training and implement statewide testing mandates including but not limited to:  STAR, CAPA, CMA, CELDT/ALPI and Physical Fitness Testing.  Assist with the preparation of the annual School Accountability Report Card.  Coordinate division-wide inservice training and professional development activities, including, but not limited to: preservice training for new teachers, mandatory annual training (mandated reporting of child abuse, universal precautions, etc.) orientation week activities, monthly inservice activities and on-going professional development activities based on surveyed needs of staff.  Coordinate and work with the Curriculum Committee in meeting the identified educational goals of individuals with exceptional needs.  Provide support as needed in maintaining curriculum projects.  Participate as the divisions representative to the county Curriculum Advisory Committee.  Coordinate initial and on-going training in Pro-Act to designated staff and maintain all records related to that program.  Coordinate and manage the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment Induction Program for designated staff.  Serve as the divisions liaison for Intern programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate verbally and in written format professionally with a variety of audiences.  Ability to meet deadlines.  Ability to work with administrative staff, teachers and support personnel in a professional and efficient manner.  Ability to read and interpret California Codes, CDE Advisories and other educational documents as they relate to special education.  Ability to drive to various school sites and meeting locations.  Demonstrate highest standards of integrity, honest, ethics, confidentially and professionalism.  Exhibit warmth, compassion and good humor.  Demonstrate managerial and organizational skills.   Demonstrate high energy and excitement for education of students with exceptional needs.  Willingness to follow the rules and regulations of the Office of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools in a professional manner.  Must possess a Clinical Rehabilitation Services Credential, California Administrative Credential, and Masters Degree.  Must possess a Speech-Language Pathology License from the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board in accordance with the provisions of Section 2532 of the Business and Professions Code preferred; license required within two years of hire.  ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency preferred; CCC required within two years of hire.  Provider for the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment for the Induction Program; Trainer of Trainers preferred.  Three years special education experience in a certificated position.  In depth experience and knowledge of special education programs and related legal issues and regulations governing special education and disabled individuals.  A history of demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.  Staff development experience preferred.  Administrative experience preferred.
