INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE I - ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION
(Substitute/Temporary)
SALARY:
$11.49 per hour. This position is for substitute/temporary employment and on an on-call, as needed basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials.
Tutor individual and small groups of students.
Assist in the management of student behavior through use of reinforcement strategies and techniques.
Prepare instructional materials and learning aides for students.
May assist in making community resources available to students.
Perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training or coursework in instructional technology, or a closely related field.
Must submit proof of passage of the Basic Proficiency Test if high school graduation is prior to 1981 or if high school diploma is from outside of California.
One year of paid or volunteer experience working with students age 9 through 17.
Knowledge of basic concepts of developmental and behavior characteristics of intermediate and high school age students.
Knowledge of basic arithmetical concepts for junior high and high school students.
Lift school items up to 25 pounds and perform duties that may require bending or reaching.
Sit at a workstation, grading papers, for up to seven hours.
Stand or walk supervising student work areas for up to seven hours.

Policy requires that a copy of high school proficiency test certificate or a copy of California high school diploma if graduated from twelfth grade after 1981 be filed with application
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
