SALARY:
$3,612 - $4,370 per month. Maximum entry level is $3,975 per month. Holiday, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid medical, dental, vision, and counseling plans provided for employee and family. Prepaid life insurance policy provided for the employee. Employees of this office are not covered by Social Security, but do have mandatory retirement coverage with Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the primary direction of the Deputy Executive Officer, to plan, organize, and participate in responsible and technical data analysis, underwriting and reporting functions and activities; to perform specialized analysis and underwriting functions related to the programs administered by the Self-Insured Schools of California Joint Powers Authorities; and to do other related work as directed. Assists in developing underwriting guidelines and pricing models for school districts for self-insured financial arrangements. Collects and analyzes data to assist with underwriting of new districts, annual renewals and changes to existing benefits. Performs initial review of applications for adherence to underwriting standards, noting variances. Develops and delivers accurate, detailed, understandable, insightful, and (where appropriate) customized financial reports for existing districts and for internal needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree with formal training in Mathematics, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields required. Mathematics degree is strongly desired. Previous underwriting and/or data analysis experience is preferred but not required. Ability to influence decision-making and interact with all levels including senior management, board of directors and school districts.

Candidates must achieve 70% on the written examination to qualify for an oral interview. Examinations will be weighted 30% for written and 70% for oral. Candidates must obtain a composite score of 70% or better to qualify for the eligibility list.
Written examination: February 25, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. Candidates unless otherwise notified should report to the Human Resources Department, and provide photo identification for entrance to the written examination. Oral examination: March 4, 2010 by individual appointment only. Late entrance to the exam or interview will not be allowed.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days in paid service, whichever is longer.
