Teacher - Visually Impaired (Part-time)

SALARY
$44,750 minimum - $80,923 maximum per year. Maximum entry level is $63,456 per year, based on 25 steps and 185 service days.  However, this position is part-time, from 2-3 days per week, 7.5 hours per day and the salary will be adjusted accordingly per this schedule.  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide specially designed academic and living skills instruction to meet goals and objectives in each student's I.E.P.  Assist the student, parents, special and regular educational personnel and sighted peers in understanding the unique educational needs and learning characteristics of visually exceptional students.  Use effective behavior management strategies to achieve a functional learning environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess or be eligible for a California credential authorizing services as a teacher of the visually impaired.  Successful student teaching experience with the visually impaired is required, and teaching experience with the visually impaired children or in a regular classroom is desired.  Knowledge of Braille and Braille instruction is desired.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver's license, and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.  Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
