School Nurse

SALARY:
$52,894 minimum; $93,828 maximum per year based on 205 service days, 8 hours per day. Prepaid medical with prepaid prescription card, vision, dental, and counseling plans provided for employee and family. A life insurance program is also prepaid for the employee.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure implementation of school and health laws to include immunizations, infectious diseases, and specialized physical health care services. Provide vision and health screening as prescribed by law. Insure that the health record of each exceptional child is monitored and updated. Serve as a member of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team; completes assessments and written reports at annual and three-year reviews as appropriate. Attend orthopedic clinics to interpret findings to appropriate school personnel.  Available at all times to attend to health emergencies. Provide staff with instruction and supervision of specialized physical health care procedures and use of equipment for designated students which may include habilitative and rehabilitative procedures. Assess needs and requisition first aide and other medical supplies and equipment. Provide staff and parents with instruction on health care. Consult with public and private health agencies. Prepare state mandated reports for first grade physicals and immunizations. Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a current RN license; California School Health Services Credential; Public Health Certificate; CPR/First Aid Certified. At least three years nursing experience and successful experience in school nursing desired.
