Special Education Programs

SALARY:
$59,530 minimum -  $94,956 maximum per year, based on 25 steps and 205 service days.  Additional $1,000 annual stipend for M.A. and an additional $1,300 annual stipend for Ed.D. or Ph.D.  Prepaid medical with prepaid prescription card, vision, dental, and counseling plans provided for employee and family.  A life insurance program is also prepaid for the employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide for an educationally-related occupational therapy assessment which includes student observation, record review, interview, standardized and nonstandardized testing in areas of suspected disability.  Develop long-term and short-term goals and objectives and coordinate implementation of goals and objectives with the IEP team to provide integrated services.  Develop an intervention plan that supports the IEP and consult with and train educational personnel to implement the intervention plan in the student's environment.  Implement training opportunities and inservices for educational staff and parents.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess certification as occupational therapist.  Registered (OTR) by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.  Sensory-integration certificate desirable.  Experience in pediatrics, including practice in assessment and therapy skills appropriate for the needs of a varied student population is desired.  Knowledge of special education laws and mandates at federal and state levels is required.  Must be able lift 50 lbs., kneel, squat, climb, crawl, and manipulate equipment used in therapy unit.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver's license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.

Must possess or secure within six months of employment a certificate for first aide and CPR issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent.

Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
