PROGRAM:
Alternative Education/Court and Community School is looking for RSP teachers to provide special education services as stated in the individualized educational program for incarcerated youth or youth who are high-risk, expelled or probation referred enrolled in the juvenile court and community school programs operated by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office. Work calendar is based on program needs and may not be aligned with traditional school months.

GRADE LEVEL: 7-12, K-6

RESOURCE SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate special education services and regular classroom activities for students enrolled in the Resource Specialist Program.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate student records, files and reports.
  • Assume primary responsibility for development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student based on individual academic, behavioral, social and transitional needs.
  • Create and maintain an effective and safe environment for learning.
  • Plan instruction and strategies with organized subject matter that is aligned with Individual Educational Plan to provide high quality learning experiences.
  • Assess student performance levels and learning through a variety of methods.
  • Communicate and consult in a timely and professional manner with parents, guardians, teachers, other specialists, and agency partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Appropriate California Special Education Teaching Credential
Must hold or be willing to complete requirements for Resource Specialist Certificate.
EL certification required
NCLB compliant for grade and subject matter preferred
Eligibility for Verification Process for Secondary Teachers in Specialized Settings required
Experience working with delinquent and high-risk youth preferred
