This position is located in Sacramento, CA.

SALARY:
$3,753 - $4,538 per month.  Maximum entry level is $4,126 per month. Sick leave accrued from another California K-14 public educational agency in the State of California may be transferred to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office.  Fourteen holidays are observed as paid days each fiscal year. Generous vacation and sick leave benefits are provided. Prepaid medical, dental, vision, and counseling plans provided for employee and family.  Prepaid life insurance policy provided for the employee.    Employees of this office are not covered by Social Security, but do have mandatory retirement coverage with Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The Field Support Technician will provide training and support to local education agencies for special projects within the CSIS Program.
• Assist in the development of training and support documents.  Assist local education agencies with data submission as required.  Log and communicate issues, problems, and concerns that local education agencies may have.
• Serve as a cooperative and contributing member of the CSIS Program office team and complete other duties as assigned.
• This position involves up to 10% travel within California.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business, communications, technology, or a related field.
• A minimum of two years experience in client support/training functions and/or student information systems operations is required.
• Experience working with student information systems is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of local education agencies support issues and concepts and local K-12 operations. 
• Ability to use Microsoft applications and knowledge of Web based applications is required. 
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess strong people-skills.

Filing deadline is July 25, 2007 by 5:00 p.m.

Each candidate’s application papers will be thoroughly evaluated and ranked by a screening committee appointed by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.  Candidates achieving a rating of 70% or better will qualify to continue in the eligibility screening process with an interview scheduled the week of July 30, 2007.  All interviews will be held at the Sacramento office.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must maintain proof of privately owned automobile insurance and possess a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
