Special Education Programs

SALARY:
$53,924 to $94,956 per year, based on 25 steps and 205 service days, 8 hours per day.  Additional $1,000 annual stipend for MA; $1,300 annual stipend for Ed.D. or Ph.D.  Prepaid medical with prepaid prescription card, vision, dental, and counseling plans provided for employee and family.  A life insurance program is also prepaid for the employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide complete audiological assessment and services for all children in classes for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Programs.  Counsel with parents regarding audometric evaluations, care and use of hearing aids and auditory training strategies.  Assist in providing trainings for staff, associated agencies, and parents regarding issues related to student needs: i.e. cochlear implant, care of aides, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold an appropriate California credential or the equivalent as specified by law, which should include a valid Master's Degree in Audiology and a Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Audiology.  Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology is desired.  Must possess a background in pediatric audiology or educational audiology.  Specialized in-depth knowledge of hearing aids, auditory training strategies, and current electro-acoustic instrumentation is required.  At least three years or the equivalent of providing successful audiological services for special education programs for students from the infant level through high school.  Successful experience writing goals and objectives for students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).  Successful inter-agency work with California Children's Services is desired.  Sign language skill is desired, but not required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver's license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.

Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
