SALARY:
$10.90 - $13.11 per hour. Maximum entry level $11.91 per hour. This position is 3 hours per day, 183 days per year. (10:00 am. 1:00 p.m.) Holiday, sick leave and vacation benefits are accrued based on work schedule. Health insurance benefits are not provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the preparation, packaging, and serving of foods, including the preparation of sandwiches, salads, relishes, hot entrees, and a variety of other foods.
Serve and sell hot and cold foods, salads, beverages, desserts, and snacks.
Assist in maintaining the food service facility in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
Assist in maintaining inventory control.
May act as a cashier, including the counting of monies and developing of cash receipt records.
Wash and store utensils, containers, and trays.
Drive delivery vehicle to transport food service meals to satellite school sites.
Load and unload delivery vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma, or GED required, supplemented by training in food preparation, safety, sanitation, or other related areas.
One year of quantity food preparation, service, and kitchen maintenance functions in a commercial, institutional, or school food service facility.
Knowledge of methods and procedures for preparing and serving food in large quantities.
Knowledge of standard food service terminology, appliances, and equipment.
Ability to adhere to standard menus and recipes in the preparation of foods and snacks.
Ability to collect money and make change accurately.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pound, climb step ladders, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, stand, and sit driving for long period.
APPLICATION AND SCREENING PROCEDURES:
All candidates must file an application with the Human Resources Department at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, 1300 17th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93301, (661) 636-4391, on or before May 10, 2007, by 5:15 p.m.
Candidates must achieve 70% on the written examination to qualify for an oral interview. Examinations will be weighted 30% for written and 70% for oral. Candidates must obtain a composite score of 70% or better to qualify for the eligibility list. For entry-level positions, veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of five points to their composite score. A copy of your DD-214 must be submitted at the time of application.
Written examination: May 18, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. Candidates unless otherwise notified should report to the University Square Buidling, 2000 K Street, Room US1 and provide photo identification for entrance to the written examination. Oral examination: December 19, 2006, by individual appointment only.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position requires proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license.
Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
A preplacement medical assessment is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. This position is required to lift 50 pounds.
This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days in paid service, whichever is longer.
