The California Preschool Instructional Network (CPIN), funded by the State Department of Education, Child Development Division, is comprised of Eleven regional networks. Region 8 serves Kern, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
CPIN activities are provided to improve the quality of California preschool programs for all children, including children with disabilities and those who are learning English.
Through network meetings for administrators, professional development for teachers and technical assistance, CPIN supports the California Department of Education, Child Development Division in disseminating its documents, initiatives, and other research-based publications, practices, and resources in areas including, but not limited to:
- California Preschool Learning Foundations, Volume 1: domains of language and literacy, mathematics, social-emotional development, and English-language development
- Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volume 1
- Preschool English Learners (PEL) Guide
- Early Childhood Special Education Handbooks
These publications promote linkages between preschool learning and development and K-12 content areas.
