Eligibility Criteria & Enrollment Process
Families (except those in Downtown Child Development Center employer sponsored classrooms) are enrolled from the Centralized Eligibility List (CEL) of Kern County and must meet state income requirements in order to receive state preschool services. To receive full day/full year care, families must also meet a "need" criteria. Families can receive more eligibility information, by calling 661.861.5301 or 877.861.5200 (toll-free) Parents may also download an application at http://kcsos.kern.org/cel/ Eligibility varies by program and site. Children that are four years old by December 2 of the school year are priority in the state preschool programs.
