Scholarship Helps Future Child Development Educators

The 10th Annual Wendy Wayne Scholarship award will be presented on March 24, 2007, at the 22nd Annual Professional Recognition Luncheon sponsored by the Kern Association for the Education of Young Children and Community Connection for Child Care.

This scholarship was set up to assist students completing their studies in early childhood education with books & tuition.

Who may apply? The applicant must currently be a student studying in the field of early childhood education and currently working in the child development field.

What is the procedure for application?

  • Submit the completed application (attached). Please print or type.
  • Attach two (2) letters of recommendation (From an instructor, employer, or an early childhood professional).
  • Attach verification of student status.
  • Attach a one-page statement outlining how this award will help meet educational and career goals.

  • CCCC Foundation Produces PSAs to Prevent Tooth Decay
    If the media is the message, then TV may soon be bringing smiles to the faces of many young children, thanks to the plans of the Community Connection for Child Care (CCCC) Foundation, Kern County Children's Dental Health Network and Kern Education Television Network, operated by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. CCCC got the ball rolling in December 2005, when it applied for and received a grant from the American Dental Association (ADA) Harris Fund to support the production of two Public Service Announcements (PSAs) in English and Spanish to be aired on local television stations in Kern County. What the PSAs will deal with is simple yet vitally important to preventing tooth decay -- encouraging parents and their children to use fluoride, brush and floss their teeth daily and have regular dental check-ups. ...More

  • Back-To-School Car Seat Inspection Event
    On September 9, 2006 CCCC along with State Farm Insurance will be offering this FREE event to parents and anyone who transports children in car safety seats. See if your infant or children's car safety seats are installed properly to insure that they are protected from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Babies R Us parking lot on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield. This year's event will feature more trained technicians and such wonderful partners as Culligan Water, the Department of Public Health, Bakersfield Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Kern County Fire Department.
