WARNING: Young children can easily choke on nuts, seeds, popcorn, raw vegetables, grapes, peanut butter, meat sticks, and hot dogs. Do not give these foods to infants. Cut foods into small, easily chewed finger food for toddlers and preschoolers who are still learning to bite and chew. Watch children of all ages closely whenever they are eating.
Apple Upside-Down Cake
Makes 6 Servings
You will need:

3 tbsp. Butter or Margarine
1/3 cup Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
2 McIntosh Apples
1½ cups All-Purpose Flour
½ cup Sugar
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Cinnamon
½ tsp. Nutmeg
1 Egg
½ cup Milk
1/3 cup Soft Butter
¼ cup Molasses
1. Heat the oven to 350`F.
2. Place the butter in the cake pan. Put the pan in the oven just long enough to melt the butter.
3. Using oven mitts, remove the pan from oven. Stir in the brown sugar. Spread the mixture evenly over the bottom of the pan.
4. With a paring knife, peel, core and thinly slice the apples. Place the slices in a single layer over the bottom of the pan.
5. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes.
6. Spread batter evenly over the apples in the pan.
7. Place the pan in the oven on the top rack. Place a cookie sheet on the rack below in case the cake bubbles over. Bake for 45 minutes or until t toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven with oven mitts and immediately loosen cake from the edges of the pan with a knife.
8. Place a serving plate on top of the pan. Wearing oven mitts (and perhaps with some adult help), quickly flip the pan and plate upside down. The cake should fall into the plate. Lift off the pan. If some of the apple mixture sticks to the bottom of the pan, just scoop it back in place.
9. Serve warm with whipped cream.
