Car Seat Safety Video
Did you know that 5 out of 6 children’s car seats are incorrectly installed? Car seats that are incorrectly installed lose their ability to protect children, and in some cases can even cause serious injury! Are you sure your child’s car seat is safe?
The Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) office, Community Connection for Child Care (CCCC) have teamed up to produce an informational video, in both English and Spanish, designed to help keep children and drivers safe! This video is being produced by the Kern Educational Telecommunications Network within KCSOS and CCCC’s Child Care Productions (CCP) program and is hosted by Irma Cervantes with KABE-TV, CH 39 Univision.
Most parents and caregivers are unaware that their child’s seat is installed incorrectly. This video is designed to encourage adults to be safe drivers and positive role models for children by:
- Always remembering to buckle up and properly secure children in the car.
- Respecting others on the road
- Maintaining the appropriate driving speeds according to the limits posted
- Using extra caution while driving in school zones or around school busses,
- And yielding for emergency personnel
Along with safe driving tips, car seat installation demonstrations and creative tips for entertaining children in the car will be highlighted. The video will also remind parents to NEVER leave children unattended in a car. Despite recent tragic stories in the news, many parents still do not realize how dangerous it is to leave children unattended in a car seat…even for a few minutes!
Support for this video has been generously provided by State Farm Insurance Companies. Production support for this video was provided by the Kern County Fire Department, HALL Ambulance Services , the Kern County Sheriff's Department, California Highway Patrol, and UNIVISION .
