Caring for Children with Special Needs:A Special Training for Child Care Providers
Children with special needs are some of the nation's most vulnerable citizens. In addition to love, attention and direction, these youngsters may have other requirements - most which can be handled with training, knowledge and heartfelt concern. The value of a trained child care provider is enormous in Kern County. The positive influence of adults outside the family is healthy and encourages development. The opportunity for special needs children to spend time with children their own age is a dynamic gift - encouraging good socialization skills and increased communication ability. The time for you to become involved is now! Helping a child with special needs is a great way to make a very special difference.
CCCC is offering free, valuable training and technical assistance to all child care providers to enhance the participation (inclusion) of children with special needs in child care and development programs. This unique training series will equip providers with the knowledge and confidence to care for children with special needs. Leading edge professionals including child development experts, behavioral specialists and medical professionals will speak on relevant issues affecting children with special needs. Topics will include: behavior challenges, health concerns, physical obstacles and hands on solutions, overcoming stereotypes, communication with parents and children – and much more! Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion after each session.
