A children's center director must be at least 18 years old and meet education and experience requirements. Minimum educational background is graduation from high school. In addition, 15 semester units in early childhood education must be completed. Twelve of these units must be in:

The final three units must be in administration or staff relations. A year of work experience is defined as volunteer or paid time in a licensed child care program for at least three hours a day for a minimum of 100 days per calendar year. Potential teachers who have a postgraduate degree in some other area will still be required to complete the necessary units of early childhood education. Requirements for a children's center teacher are:
