The California Child Care Initiative Project

The California Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP) is designed to increase the supply of licensed, quality child care. The program recruits and trains family child care providers to help meet the great demand for child care services, with an emphasis on infant/toddler care during traditional and non-traditional hours.
The California Child Care Initiative Project:
- Assists you in meeting California state licensing requirements
- Provides training in health and safety and access to resources (fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, First Aid/CPR classes)
- Supports you to work effectively as a child care provider
- Trains you to improve your ability to work with children of different ages in topics such as:

Guidance and discipline
Nutrition and meal preparation
Growth and development
Working with babies
Working with parents
Guides you to build up a successful, strong business
Potential CCIP participants can include:
- Individuals interested in opening a family child care business
- Licensed family child care providers who have been inactive for one year
- Licensed providers willing to increase capacity to take infants/toddlers or provide non-traditional hours of care
- Licensed providers willing to expand from a small to large license provided it includes infant/toddler slots
All CCIP participants will receive Technical Assistance (TA) in the form of home visits, office visits, and telephone assistance.
Incentives upon completion of required training components may include:
- Health and safety supplies for initial set up
- Toys
- Books
- Play equipment
