I am pleased to announce the following training sessions that have been scheduled for Winter 2009. I hope you find some of the topics you are interested in listed below. As always, ideas for classes are always appreciated and incorporated into the schedule, so keep in touch and let me know what is needed by your staff. All classes will be held in Studio 3, 2nd Floor, 1300 17th Street, City Centre, Bakersfield. All classes will begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM unless otherwise noted. NEW QSS USERS ~ Tuesday, Sept 15th, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
This class is designed for people new to Quintessential School Systems (QSS). We will cover the logon, configuration, and navigation tools. We will begin at the very beginning and progress as far as we can in 4 hours. Sue Daniel is scheduled to present this class.
QSS CONTROL CENTER (QCC & PRINT MANAGER) ~ Thursday, Sept 17th, 9:00AM – 3:00PM
Everyone attending this workshop will receive their logon to QCC. This is an in-depth workshop covering setup and using the new QSS ControlCenter. You will also learn to manage your print files. Learn to print, route, download and export from the new QCC Print Manager. Karen K. Brown is scheduled to present this class.
PAYROLL HISTORY ADJUSTMENTS ~ Tuesday, Sept 29th, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
Looking towards the end of the calendar year, let’s review the process for making payroll history adjustments. These adjustments made outside of the payroll process can be tricky and complicated. If done incorrectly, your quarterly reports filed with IRS and EDD may be wrong. Sue Daniel is scheduled to present this class.
HR REPORTING IN QCC ~ Tuesday, Oct 6th, 9:00AM – 3:00PM
This workshop will cover HR Report/Job Selector, Personnel Downloader, HR Query and HR related job menus. QCC ControlCenter/Print Manager is a prerequisite for this workshop. Karen K Brown is scheduled to present this class.
STATE DISBURSEMENT UNIT ~ Thursday, Oct 22nd, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
The State of California has imposed new reporting requirements for all districts who submit payments for employee child support payments. If you have any garnishments currently being paid on Voluntary Deduction Code 1541, you must attend this class. The new process will be very different from your current method of payment. Sue Daniel is scheduled to present this class.

GET READY FOR W2’s ~ Thursday, Nov 5th, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
This class is designed for Payroll folks, and any other staff who complete the quarterly payroll reporting. It will walk you through the process of audit and review of all of your payroll history reports and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter of taxes already filed. Let’s begin looking at the information early so we have two payroll cycles available in case we need to make any changes prior to 12/31/09. Sue Daniel is scheduled to present this class.
GETTING READY FOR 1099’s ~ Tuesday, Nov 10th, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
This class is designed for district staff responsible for filing 1099’s on behalf of the district. We will discuss the load, change and edit process and the screens you will use. This class will be facilitated by Sue Daniel with a big assist from Larry Meier.
QSS is pleased to announce that the QSS Users Group Finance/Personnel Committee has arranged to have the Finance/Personnel Committee sponsor the QSS training sessions listed below. Details, including specific topics, tuition and registration information, will be distributed via e-mail and posted on the QSS web site approximately 10 days prior to each webinar and 10 weeks prior to the on-site seminars.
- Webinars are free for Finance/Personnel Committee members and $100 for non-members.
- On-site seminars are $25 for members and $100 for non-members.
