WEBSITES OF INTEREST
What Works Clearinghouse Practice guides provide practical recommendations for educators to help them address the everyday challenges they face in their classrooms and schools. Developed by a panel of nationally recognized experts, practice guides consist of actionable recommendations, strategies for overcoming potential roadblocks, and an indication of the strength of evidence supporting each recommendation. IES practice guides are subjected to rigorous external peer review.
NICHCYPublications NICHCY's publications are all available here, for free, on their Web site. Their publications cover the many topics related to children and youth with disabilities.
Enhancing access to the general education curriculum for students with disabilities. Their resources focus on core content areas—language arts, math, and science—as well as on instructional and learning strategies to provide students with disabilities access to rigorous academic content. They have a series of professional development modules and information briefs on such topics as teaching and learning strategies, media and materials, supports and accommodations, universal design for learning, differentiated instruction, and collaborative teaching.
PENT (Positive Environments Network of Trainers)
The Positive Environments, Network of Trainers is a California Positive Behavior Initiative designed to provide information and resources throughout California for educators striving to achieve high educational outcomes through the use of proactive positive strategies. Evidence-based positive practices and helpful information is disseminated statewide through this website.
This guide, developed by the California Department of Education, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, responds to teachers and administrators faced with a growing need to successfully manage unwanted behavior in the classroom. The guide addresses a wide range of student behavior problems in order to create "environments conducive to learning," as required in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002 (NCLB).
Response to intervention integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system to maximize student achievement and to reduce behavior problems. With RTI, schools identify students at risk for poor learning outcomes, monitor student progress, provide evidence-based interventions and adjust the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities.

ASAT: The Association for Science in Autism Treatment
The mission of ASAT is to share accurate, scientifically sound information about autism and treatments for autism.
The National Autism Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting effective, evidence-based treatment approaches, and to providing direction to families, practiotioners, organizations, policy-makers, and funders. Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders (POPARD)
POPARD promotes a wide range of evidence-based practice approaches that facilitate inclusive educational programs in the least restrictive environment. This website also provides teachers, para-professionals, and parents with information about ASD.
