A California Subject Matter Project
Teacher leaders from elementary, middle and high school dedicated to:
- offering opportunities for teachers of all levels to enhance their knowledge of the target language, literature and culture
- working collaboratively to support classroom language, literature and culture
- working collaboratively; to support classroom language teachers in improving student achievement and literacy
- establishing a professional home for language teachers
- helping teachers have an impact through leadership roles, partnerships and student achievement.
What do we do?
We present programs that will allow participants to:
- Spend time practicing multiple approaches to learning
- Learning to engage students in content-learning, using the target language as the medium of instruction
- Immerse themselves in contextualized foreign language
- Concentrate on broadening their knowledge of literature and culture
- Keep abreast of language-specific literacy and standards-embedded pedagogy
How do we do it?
In collaboration with teacher leaders, YOU engage in, develop, and implement:
- classroom acitivites to enhance student proficiency
- activities to meet learning needs of students
- reading and writing strategies
- standards-based instructional sequences
- assessment strategies
- techniques of collegial coaching
