Ed-Data Introduces New Keyword Search Function

The Education Data Partnership is pleased to provide a useful new tool on the Ed-Data website at http://www.ed-data.k12.ca.us or http://www.ed-data.org. You can now search the site using keywords to find reports, articles, and definitions of interest.

On the home page, you'll see the Find function that lists Name, Keyword, Zip Code, City, and CDS (county-district-school) Code. Type in the topic of interest to you, and click Find by Keyword. A results page will give you the links for that topic. For example, a keyword search for "revenue limit" lists state and district financial reports, comparisons, and five articles that mention revenue limits as well as the Glossary definition. Type in "graduation rates" to locate that data on the site, or type "API" to find multiple years of reports and articles. If you try a keyword that has no results, send a note to ed-data@cde.ca.gov and we'll consider adding it.

This November release also includes more 2006-07 data on the state, county, district, and school profiles. In particular, it has information about such special programs as English Learners, Free/Reduced Price Meals, and Compensatory Education. The interesting comparison features have also been updated to reflect these additions.

Coming next: the ability to select which schools to compare!

We always appreciate hearing your questions or suggestions.
