The Goal –
  • To walk 100 miles between November 1, 2005 and January 31, 2006.
100MileWalk-Question: Get Started
  • Plan your walking schedule and stick with it.
  • Map out several routes that will provide variety to your walks.
  • Request a walking journal from Esther Ozeta so you can keep track of you miles.
  • Find some comfortable walking shoes, the better the fit the longer you will walk.
100MileWalk-Map: What you need to do
  • Warm up by stretching prior to walking – see handout from Diana Mestmaker (you can get one from Esther)
  • Cool down at the end of each walk
  • Drink enough water to keep your body hydrated during your walk.
  • Keep track of your walking on a daily basis in your journal.
  • Celebrate milestones when you reach 10 miles, 25, 50 75 and 100. Email Merry McCalley when you reach one.
To make the goal you will need to walk about 1.1 miles a day or about 8 miles per week for the 13 weeks. You are welcome to count treadmill walking as part of you plan.

Your milestones will be posted on the web so everyone can celebrate with you and cheer you on when you slow down.

Our next Lunch Seminars will focus on physical activity. The presenters will be Catherine Gale from I Beam Club on December 6, 2005 and Sean Kenny from the American Heart Association and Anything Fitness on February 15, 2006.

We will celebrate all walkers on February 15th with special recognition for all who participated and for those who made the 100-mile mark or more.
